Dear USMEF Members:

We are pleased to announce that we have engaged Grant Thornton’s Not-for-Profit Business Advisory Services Practice to assist the Board and senior management team with a review of USMEF and our global operations. The primary objective of this initiative is to assess the needs and expectations of our members and key stakeholders, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance USMEF’s capacity to serve our constituents going forward.

At the outset of this project, scheduled to begin the week of October 27th, the Grant Thornton team will be on-site to meet with staff in our Denver headquarters in order to gain a better understanding of our current operating environment, organization, member services, and other programmatic offerings. The project team will be conducting additional interviews at the November Board Meeting and will also be meeting with USMEF personnel at various international locations to establish a more complete understanding of our organization and our global presence.

Grant Thornton’s project team includes the following individuals:

  • Mark Oster, National Managing Partner, Not-for-Profit and Higher Education Practices
  • Joseph Mulligan, Manager, Not-for-Profit Business Advisory Services Practice
  • Susana Lee, Senior Consultant, Not-for-Profit Business Advisory Services Practice

Since most of this organizational review will take place during Leann Saunders’ term as Chairman, we have agreed that in the interest of continuity, she will lead this effort from the start.

We invite you all to share your ideas with the Grant Thornton team throughout this project (and please know that your input to the project team will be kept confidential by Grant Thornton), and thank you in advance for participating in this endeavor to position USMEF for continued success.
