Nomenclature Requirement Enforcement Postponed

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has informed the Food Safety & Inspection Service (FSIS) that it will postpone enforcement of the following requirement until further notice. The requirement was to be enforced from March 10, 2008.

Descriptive terms applied to meat and poultry product must be consistent with Canadian Food and Drug Regulations and the Canadian Meat Inspection Regulations. Common names of meat and poultry products for sale in Canadian commerce are specified by the Uniform Meat Cut Nomenclature System (UMCNS) and are posted in the CFIA Meat Cuts Manual at the following web link:
