Magazine Coverage Increases U.S. Beef Outreach

USMEF has increased awareness and interest of food editors and publishers in U.S. beef, giving it wider coverage in popular publications. Three family and social Arab magazines in Saudi Arabia featured four U.S. beef recipes last month, reaching more than 1.5 million Arab readers.

U.S. beef was identified in the recipe title and ingredients list. Two recipes featured traditional main dishes and stews, while others emphasized U.S. beef in light and healthy sandwiches.

Editorials projecting U.S. beef as a versatile and nutritious product appeared in two popular women’s magazines last month, reaching more than 780,000 readers. The two-page color spreads featured U.S. beef recipes, photos and information.

The Middle East is the third largest market for U.S. beef and beef variety meat. Through August, U.S. beef and beef variety meat exports to the Middle East were 53,821 metric tons valued at $75 million. These figures already exceed year-end totals from 2003.
