Kuwait Lifts Ban On U.S. Beef
On December 26, 2004, Kuwait lifted its ban on U.S. beef products, a move that the USDA hopes will be followed by the other three Arab Gulf Cooperation (GCC) countries. The Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Dubai has been working hard to persuade the GCC countries to lift their bans.
Kuwait retains a ban on beef from Washington state.
In 2003, the United States exported 4,735 metric tons of beef and beef variety meat to Kuwait, valued at $27.3 million, mostly for the U.S. military.

U.S. Pork Show Now Scheduled For February 22
USMEF-Taiwan’s U.S. Pork Product Show is now scheduled for February 22. As we said last month, the Taiwan office is asking for members’ input as well as participation.
U.S. pork exporters are asked to exhibit new or existing pork products (pork, pork variety meat and processed pork products) at the show. Those attending will have the chance to meet importers and distributors invited to this new year gathering by USMEF-Taiwan at a buffet meal.
For more information, contact USMEF-Taiwan’s Lilian Lo at +886-2-2736-1200 ext.14, or by e-mail at llo@usmef.org preferably by next Monday, January 10.
