USMEF Mother’s Day Event Sells Out Two Weeks Before Promotion Ends
It’s official – the fourth annual USMEF Mother’s Day event is sold out, two weeks before the scheduled end of the promotion. USMEF designed this annual promotion around mothers, who do most of the family food shopping and meal preparation.
Shoppers who purchased U.S. pork and beef at participating Comercial Mexicana, Chedraui and Gigante stores could collect points from coupons off the meat packages and exchange them for two tickets to the Mother’s Day celebration Friday, May 12.
The event will include a festive performance of “Besame Mucho,” (Kiss Me More) a popular musical featuring Spanish dancing. USMEF will also present U.S. meat nutritional information and conduct cooking demonstrations. Two performances will be held to accommodate 3,000 people.
After last year’s event, many attending mothers thanked USMEF Mexico Director Gilberto Lozano and expressed interest in future promotions organized by USMEF, particularly the next Mothers’ Day event.
Gustavo Castaño, USMEF retail marketing manager, said meat buyers are excited by the success of this year’s promotion and will have sales results by month’s end.

USMEF Publishes U.S. Pork Cookbook in Russian
Moscow chefs, in cooperation with USMEF, developed U.S. pork recipes now featured in a new U.S. pork cookbook. The cookbook, featuring loin, ham and picnic cuts, was created to promote U.S. pork.
The cookbook, in Russian, will be used during upcoming seminars, presented as gifts in Russian restaurants, and distributed to chefs, directors and owners of restaurants at the upcoming U.S. pork masters classes held in St. Petersburg May 22-June 22. In addition, the book will be given as a gift to top students participating in a U.S. pork cooking contest held at a St. Petersburg cooking college in June.
