USMEF Cosponsors Children’s Day Activities
USMEF gave the children Roy’s Club Promotional Kits which introduces children to the importance of eating a balanced meal with red meat as a key ingredient. As club members, kids can earn prizes and learn more about keeping healthy with proper nutrition and exercise.
USMEF Adds Flavor to Jetix Cup Soccer Matches
In addition to supplying tasty treats, USMEF had a booth where a dietician talked about U.S. meat attributes and the important health benefits it offers children and adolescents as part of a healthy and nutritious diet. Information about retail stores and restaurants where U.S. meat could be found and purchased was also available.
The two-day event was attended by more than 1,200 people and provided a fun and healthy atmosphere to deliver the health benefits of U.S. meat to children and their parents.

Officials Complete First Round Of Talks To Resume U.S. Beef Trade
U.S. and Chinese government officials completed two days of negotiations in Beijing this week in an effort to establish a protocol consistent with World Organization for Animal Health guidelines for the resumption of U.S. beef sales to China.
Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Dr. J.B. Penn and representatives of USDA, Food and Drug Administration and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative met with Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine Vice Minister Ge Zhirong and other representatives of the Chinese government.
This is the first set of talks the two countries have had since China agreed to reopen its market to U.S. beef at the 17th U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade meeting in Washington, D.C. last month.
"We've made considerable progress with China during these discussions to reopen their market to U.S. beef and we will meet again soon to conclude the talks," said Penn in a USDA news release .
