Specific Dates Must Be Listed On Meat Labels

The Mexican government’s domestic regulation, titled Nom 030, includes a requirement stipulating that specific dates need to be listed on the labels of meat imports, rather than a range of dates. The range of dates is still acceptable for use on export certificates/documents as long as the specific date on the box labels falls within the range of dates in their respective export certificates/documents. This requirement is not new; it is clearly defined in the Labeling Requirements section of the Export Requirements for Mexico in the FSIS Export Library.

The Mexican government may begin enforcing this pre-existing requirement as early as next week. Please make the appropriate changes to your labels as soon as possible to avoid possible shipment delays and/or rejections.
