Movie Premiere Delights And Rewards U.S. Meat Consumers

USMEF rewarded consumers for frequent U.S. pork and beef purchases with tickets to a premiere of the animated family movie, “Barnyard.” The movie event, held last weekend in Mexico City and Monterrey, was the end result of a USMEF retail promotion to increase U.S. meat sales.

Consumers collected point stickers from U.S. pork and beef packages purchased between Sept. 19 and Oct. 20 at 120 Commercial Mexicana and Gigante stores in Mexico City and 32 Soriana stores in Monterrey. Upon collecting 15 points, consumers could exchange them for two tickets to the “Barnyard” movie premiere.

In Mexico City, 1,580 people attended the movie premiere and 1,700 watched in Monterrey.

“The children and parents were very grateful and excited to see the movie. The event was a great opportunity to cultivate future customers of U.S. red meat while imparting important information about quality meat as part of a healthy diet, particularly for young, growing children,” said Chad Russell, USMEF regional director of Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Before the movie started, USMEF employees thanked the audience for their attendance and talked about the attributes of U.S. meat products.
