Mexico’s Beef Exports Higher In 2004, Production Forecast To Dip In 2005

Mexico’s 2005 beef production is forecast by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) to decrease slightly, due to an expected increase in U.S. beef imports following the opening of the market. 2004 beef production is expected to remain at relatively high levels, due to the continued ban on imports of live cattle, bone-in beef and other beef derived products from the United States. Mexico’s beef and cattle exports are predicted to be stronger in 2004, since Japan is now importing Mexican beef.

These conclusions and a full report are online in an FAS GAIN Report.
