Mexico: Border Inspection Points Closed in Early January

The Points of Inspection (OISA) on the U.S.-Mexican border will close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, for maintenance of the phytozoosanitary information inspection system (SIIF) for electronic validation of import certificates, and reopen on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010. Exporters should schedule their shipments so as to avoid these dates. Companies with a shipment scheduled on Dec. 31 should request the "folio of importation procedure" from the corresponding Senasica sanitary office (OISA) one day in advance, not on Dec. 31, to avoid problems. Members with questions or problems should contact Courtney Heller at 303-623-6328 or Cheller@usmef.org.
