HRZ Certification Language

USMEF has been informed by USDA in Mexico that the Mexican Director of Imports and Exports has assured them that the Hojas de Requistos that are valid for 60 days will retain their validity for 60 days, and the SRM removal language will not go into effect on October 30 for current HRZs. Companies may want to have their importers stock up on existing HRZs to avoid delays. USDA-Mexico expects a new HRZ to be published next week, although it may not be immediately translated and put into the online FSIS Export Library of Requirements.

Also be advised that if you or your customers have talked to SAGARPA people at the border and the border people are not aware of anything, please talk to your contacts at SAGARPA headquarters in Mexico City.

  • Quality System Assessment Program, ARC 1030 procedure, USDA Bovine Export Verification Program For Japan
  • Implementation of the new programs necessitated by the U.S.-Japan agreement
  • Certification — plants on the existing BEV program lists (for Canada and Mexico) are already certified, but feedlots will also have to be certified

The presentation will be at the Hilton Kansas City Airport, 8801 NW 112th Street, Kansas City, MO 64153, (816) 891-8900. Ask for the $98 per night government rate.

For those who are unable to attend, a limited number of lines will be available for a teleconference-Web cast of the presentation. Members wishing to follow the presentation in this way must register with USMEF Export Services Coordinator Ann Spaeth at aspaeth@usmef.org before close of business Friday and register online in advance. Ms. Spaeth will e-mail the written documents to registered attendees. Because of the limited number of available telephone lines, USMEF is requesting one representative from each company to participate. A similar presentation for processors will be held at a later date.

Members attending the USMEF BOD meeting in Albuquerque, NM, can participate onsite at the Hyatt Regency in a room specially set aside for this purpose.
