Several Inspection Points Closed By Mexican Authorities

Due to lack of compliance with a Mexican regulation that permits private inspection facilities to operate under license from SENASICA (the supervisory Mexican government agency), three inspection points are being shut down by SENASICA, according to chief inspectors at Nogales, Reynosa and Ciudad Juarez.

Reynosa and Nogales, two of the three points of entry under scrutiny, each have two inspection point facilities. Thus, if one inspection operation is shut down due to the lack of a current license the remaining inspection operation would continue to clear consignments of meat. Meat consignments, however, may wish to avoid Ciudad Juarez because “Corporativo de Negocios de Comercio Exterior,” its only inspection point, could be closed by tomorrow.

In Reynosa, “Hidalgo Logistics de Mexico” has been closed since Tuesday, but the “César G. Abanto Medina” inspection facility is still operational.

In Nogales “Servicio de Almacén Fiscalizado de Nogales” has also been closed, while “Grupo Inmobiliario Maymar” remains open.

USMEF will keep members informed as the situation develops.
