March 24 Pack Date Approved for Pork Products Exported to China

On May 14, U.S. pork products with a pack date of May 1, 2010, were given official clearance for export to the People’s Republic of China. As reported at that time, the U.S. government had specifically requested a pack date of March 24, 2010, and continued to seek approval for the earlier pack date.

Late last week, the two countries reached agreement on an “on-or-after March 24” pack date. This change has now been posted in the FSIS Export Library. Exporters should note that while the certificate date is also “on-or-after March 24” the certificates must be consistent with the format updated in the Export Library on May 14.

All other requirements for U.S. pork exports to China remain unchanged from the May 14 announcement.
