July 17 Shipping Deadline for UAE’s New Age Limit on U.S. Beef

July 17 Shipping Deadline for UAE’s New Age Limit on U.S. Beef

As USMEF announced two weeks ago, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is imposing a 30-month cattle age limit on imports of U.S. beef. A shipping deadline of July 17 has now been set, after which no beef exceeding the 30-month age limit will be accepted by the UAE. Exporters shipping beef to the UAE are advised to be mindful of this deadline and to watch for upcoming changes in the FSIS Export Library.

At this time, it appears that exporters may either add the UAE to an existing ARC 1030A Procedure for Bovine Less Than 30 Months of Age, or submit a new application for ARC 1030A if they are not already participating in the program. USMEF is seeking further details on this issue, however, and will provide more information as it becomes available. Please contact Paul Clayton or Ann Spaeth at 303-623-6328 if you have questions.
