Tender For 1,000 mt Of Frozen Veal Announced

The Directorate of Procurement, Jordanian Armed Forces, has announced a tender for 1,000 metric tons (mt) of frozen veal. Tender number is PDT 2007/33/55/7 with a closing date of May 21, 2007.

Delivery dates are as follows:

  • 400 mt during June 2007
  • 300 mt during August 2007
  • 300 mt during October 2007

Frozen boneless veal chuck, from animals 3 to 12 months of age are required. High quality, bright red veal that cooks well is a must.

Standard specifications of the finished products should be from:

  1. Animals inspected pre- and post-slaughter, free of any epidemic disease and fit for human consumption.
  2. Animals slaughtered according to Islamic Laws and blood totally drained.
  3. Animals skinned and eviscerated immediately after slaughter and free from traces of skin and hair.
  4. Carcasses washed with fresh, clean water.
  5. Carcasses free from any antibiotics, preservatives or colors except for the ink of stamps.
  6. Meat frozen at – 35°C within a period not exceeding 48 hours from the start of the freezing process and within 3 days from the slaughter date.
  7. Meats stored after freezing at – 18°C and storage temperature does not go above – 15°C.
  8. Meats whose fatty acids are not higher than 1.5 percent, mostly of oleic acid and have no more than 20mg / 100 grams of total volatile nitrogen.
  9. Meats not frozen after thawing and freezing burns per cut do not exceed 3 percent of the total surface area of the whole cut.
  10. Meats with a maximum total bacterial count of 10.
  11. Meats free from e.Coli.
  12. Meats free from e.Coli 0157:H7.
  13. Meats tightly packed in poly ethylene bags and packaged in fortified carton boxes suitable for frozen products. Meat cuts to be packaged in 900 grams to 2,000 grams packs.
  14. Meats labeled in Arabic as follows: English is accepted in addition to Arabic.
