U.S. Pork Hits A Home Run At Baseball Cafe

A recent U.S. pork promotion at the popular Baseball Cafe in Tokyo was a home run with customers. Many baseball fans and families enjoyed the fun restaurant atmosphere while tasting different dishes made with U.S. pork.

The promotion, from May 7 through June 30, featured dishes from three cuts of U.S. chilled pork to demonstrate the meat’s versatility and how it can be enjoyed in a different way every day. Sales increased 14 percent during the promotion period compared to a similar promotion last year.

U.S. pork loin, spare ribs and belly cuts were used in American, including Hawaiian, and Japanese cooking styles to create a special menu for diners to choose from.

This activity is part of the USMEF strategy encouraging Japanese consumers to utilize U.S. pork as a daily menu item.

Through the first four months of this year, Japan is the No. 1 market for U.S. pork and pork variety meat exports. Compared to the same period last year, export volume increased 12 percent to more than 272 million pounds (123,400 metric tons) while value went up 17 percent to $383.9 million.
