U.S. Pork Festivities Heat Up This Weekend At Waterfront Food Festival

U.S. pork samples will be handed out at the American Meat World stand this weekend during a food festival in the Waterfront shopping area outside of Tokyo.

The food festival is a six-week event where visitors can taste foods from different countries and restaurants. The American Meat World stand features U.S. pork hot dogs and information on U.S. pork and beef throughout the festival.

Samples, a question-and-answer session and other games revolving around U.S. pork will attract and entertain families to the American Meat World stand. These events, sponsored by the Nebraska Soybean Board, will help build trust and recognition of U.S. chilled pork.

Special U.S. pork menus at several restaurants also will be promoted. Consumers who visit a participating restaurant and order U.S. pork will receive a special U.S. pork pen and other prizes.

Japanese consumers have a lower awareness of U.S. pork compared to domestic pork. This event provides an opportunity to raise that awareness and share the latest U.S. pork nutrition information, featuring data from a recent USDA study that found U.S. pork tenderloin is as lean as chicken breast.

Last year 4.6 million attended the food festival and approximately 500,000 consumers visit the Waterfront shopping area each weekend.
