Pork Ads Double The Visits To USMEF Japan Web Site
USMEF advertisements introducing U.S. pork recipes from the U.S. Pork Everyday Delicious cookbook appeared in Yomiuri and Mainichi national newspapers June 8.
The ads highlighted positive attributes of U.S. pork products and offered a chance to win a copy of the cookbook, written by a well-known Japanese chef and instructor, by visiting the USMEF Japan Web site.
To qualify for the cookbook contest, visitors completed a fun, educational and interactive U.S. pork quiz on the Web site. The number of the visits to the USMEF Japan Web site increased nearly twice the average to more than 4,000 per day, demonstrating a strong consumer interest in U.S. pork information.
The activity is part of a USMEF strategy to show U.S. pork as a high quality, everyday meal item.
Japan is the No. 1 market for U.S. pork and pork variety meat exports through the first four months of this year with a 12 percent increase in volume over the same period last year to 123,400 metric tons and 17 percent in value to $383.9 million.
