Join USMEF In Promoting Processed U.S. Pork
USMEF members are invited to participate in two upcoming events promoting processed U.S. pork and sausage. The Meat Industry Showcase Trade Show in Tokyo (April 18-20) and the Bridgestone Indy 300 Mile Race in Tochigi (April 20-21) will provide an excellent opportunity to gauge the interest of Japanese consumers, develop new contacts and work with a new distributor in this growing market for processed products.
USMEF will sponsor several booths at the Meat Industry Showcase, attended by more than 30,000 importers, meat distributors and processors, as well as retail and foodservice buyers. While there will be no charge to USMEF members to participate, companies are asked to provide product for sampling and their own promotional materials. It is also recommended that a company representative attend to answer questions. The amount of booth space available to each member will depend on the number of companies participating.
The Bridgestone Indy 300 race final will be held April 21 in Tochigi at the Motegi Race track (about 2-3 hours from Tokyo). More than 100,000 fans and many families will attend this event celebrating the best of American car racing. USMEF is a promotional partner for the event, providing the following benefits for members:
- American BBQ Village – Located near the main entrance, this area provides a venue to give samples of U.S. processed products to thousands of Japanese consumers. Each participating company will have a representative to provide samples, hand out promotional materials and answer questions. Company signage will be allowed. USMEF will cover set-up and standard operation costs.
- Indy 300 Restaurants – USMEF is working with the related event restaurants to sell products from participating companies. These sausages/products would be purchased by the event organizers. Final details are yet to be determined.
- VIP Paddock Areas and Suites – U.S. sausage and meats will be provided to attendees with access to the VIP hospitality areas. These products will be purchased by the event organizers.
USMEF will conduct an onsite consumer survey to obtain feedback from consumers regarding their opinions of the available products. This information will be reported back to each participating company.
USMEF will promote these events at the FoodEx show March 13-16.
USMEF members interested in participating or with questions should contact USMEF Japan Director Greg Hanes at ghanes@usmef.org. Signup deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 28 for the Meat Industry Showcase and Friday, March 2 for the Indy 300.
