Foodservice Association Team Learns About U.S. Beef Safety
A team of 23 key buyers, restaurant owners and operators who also are members of the Japan Foodservice Association (JF) are visiting the United States this week. They will tour beef plants, feedlots and other facilities to learn first hand about U.S. beef safety systems and the beef export verification (BEV) program under which product is prepared for Japan.
JF is the largest foodservice industry organization in Japan, with more than 800 companies and 64,000 outlets represented in the membership. Yoshinoya, Japan’s largest beef bowl restaurant chain, is well-represented on the beef checkoff-funded team.
Team members indicate they are very positive about future purchases of U.S. beef and fully expect to see the volume of product expanding. Photo was taken during a break between briefings at the USMEF Denver office.
