Food Industry Eats Up Latest U.S. Pork Trends

A USMEF day-long seminar featuring U.S. pork was held Thursday (June 15) at Hotel Okura in Japan.

USMEF educated Japanese importers, distributors, purveyors, processors wholesalers, and retailers on current trends in the U.S. pork industry, while sharing the latest research on consumer behavior and merchandising.

“Ideas generated during this seminar promote awareness and help pave a steady path to expansion of U.S. pork sales in Japan,” said Susumu Harada, USMEF Japan director of projects development and communication.

A U.S. pork cutting and merchandising demonstration using loin and CT butt gave consumers the opportunity to confirm the taste and versatility of U.S. pork products.

Speakers at the event included Wayne Peugh, NBP vice president, who spoke about current U.S. hog production, and Karen Boillot, NPB retail marketing director, who discussed U.S. retail industry and consumer behavior.

USMEF accelerates the continued success of U.S. pork by holding seminars like this one throughout Japan.
