Agencies Describe Pipeline Inspection Procedures

Japanese Agricultural Minister Matsuoka has instructed MAFF and MHLW to wait to release any pipeline product until all of the "100% box inspections" have been completed, and requested importers to finish their inspections by Nov. 17. GOJ has described the inspection process and recommended timeline to importers (see a USMEF translation of this procedure). The process described should give importers and government agencies enough time and personnel to continue inspections of “new” product and also efficiently clear pipeline product. The GOJ objective, USMEF-Japan reports, is to get a good understanding that all pipeline product is appropriate and ready for government inspectors, before submitting it for final inspection and release.
