AgOTC: New Wood Packing Material Requirements

The Agriculture Ocean Transportation Coalition (AgOTC) reports the United States signed an international agreement for wood packing materials – both hardwood and softwood – used in international trade. Compliance for outbound shipments is mandated by the implementation date of individual trading partners. Note that Japan implements these standards April 1, 2007 and New Zealand recently announced that all wood packing materials must be bark-free. For more information on requirements, standards and effective dates, see AgOTC: New Wood Packing Material Requirements.
