AgOTC Involved In Senate Debate On Port Security Act

The Agriculture Ocean Transportation Coalition (AgOTC) is working with U.S. senators this week in efforts to defeat provisions in the Port Security Improvement Act that would mandate scanning of all cargo bound for U.S. ports.

AgOTC and other trade community partners are opposed to 100-percent scanning since it creates delays, adds expenses and diverts scarce inspection resources to low-risk cargo containers.

AgOTC and other partners recently sent a joint letter to Congress expressing these concerns.
