Industry Needs Assessment Workshop for the Export Certification of Meat, Poultry and Egg Products

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) and USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) are advising the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on industry’s requirements regarding the Public Health Information System (PHIS).   This system will automate the currently paper-based application for export and export certificate processes and integrate with other processes related to domestic and import inspections to improve information sharing, promoting the common goal of food safety.

USMEF and USAPEEC are pleased to announce a one-day workshop soliciting industry input to an industry needs assessment.  During the workshop, industry stakeholders will have the opportunity to learn about PHIS and contribute to industry’s requirements for PHIS. The sessions will be facilitated by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).

The workshops will be sponsored by the PHIS Export Industry Working Group, which includes USMEF membership and USAPEEC membership including: meat processors, refrigerated warehouse companies, traders/brokers, freight forwarders, banks and USDA FSIS.

USMEF and USAPEEC seek those individuals with leadership responsibility for the administration of applications for export, export certificates and related shipping documentation.  For members wishing to participate and contribute in the PHIS-Export Industry Working Group activities, several sessions are scheduled to allow for industry stakeholder participation.  These sessions have limited seating.

Please consider attending to help establish industry’s requirements that may lead to: paperless processes, process consistency, process efficiency, validation consistency, improved turnaround time, faster approvals, quality improvement and reduced operating costs.

For reservations and details please e-mail Ann Spaeth of USMEF at aspaeth@usmef.org or call her at 303-623-6328.
