Great American Texas Barbecue Celebrated with Foodservice Sector in Hong Kong
More than 1,000 members of Hong Kong’s food and beverage community celebrated a Texas-style barbecue event recently at Hong Kong’s Kowloon Cricket Club. The Great American Texas Barbecue was hosted by the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office in Hong Kong, Texas Beef Council and USMEF.
U.S. Consul General Greg May welcomed a crowd of chefs, culinary directors, importers and wholesalers to the event. They enjoyed country music, line dancing, a mechanical bull and 31 food and beverage stations showcasing U.S. beef and pork barbecue preparations as well as U.S. cheese, wine, and spirits. USMEF promoted the U.S. steamship round along with brisket, pork ribs and sausages at several of the food and beverage stations.

USMEF has been promoting the U.S. steamship round at foodservice events and through social media in Hong Kong to raise awareness about the excellent value it delivers for customers. Prior to the Texas barbecue, USMEF worked with two influencers to visit the steamship round’s manufacturer, record the cooking process and share their observations about the final product on social media.
Funding support for the barbecue event was provided by the Texas Beef Council, the Beef Checkoff Program, the National Pork Board and USDA’s Market Access Program.
