Full Access for U.S. Beef in Colombia
Export requirements for Colombia have been updated to reflect removal of export verification (EV) requirements for U.S. beef and beef products, effective Dec. 7, 2015. For any product produced on or after Dec. 7, no EV program is needed, bone-in cuts are allowed and restrictions on meat derived from Canadian direct-slaughter cattle no longer apply. These restrictions remain in place for any product produced before Dec. 7, which still must be EV-compliant to be eligible for export to Colombia. Exporters should also note that a new letterhead certificate for beef and beef products has been posted.
The Official Listing of Eligible Suppliers under the USDA EV Programs will be updated to remove reference to Colombia under the EV Program for Bovine (ARC 1030U Procedure).
If your company has an approved program to export beef to Colombia under the EV Program for Bovine (ARC 1030U Procedure):
- Remove reference to Colombia from your quality manual. The revised quality manuals do not need to be submitted for review.
- Remove reference to Colombia from your product list at the next revision.
- Notify the QA Division if your company wishes to withdraw from participating in the EV Program for Bovine (ARC 1030U Procedure) completely.
