FSIS Clears Some Prepared Meat Products for Export to Russia
FSIS Clears Some Prepared Meat Products for Export to Russia
Since May 1, no processed or prepared U.S. meat products have been eligible for export to Russia. Earlier this year, all U.S. establishments were required to submit a completed FSIS Form 9080-3 in order to become eligible. More than a month later, however, none of these U.S. establishments had been cleared to export these products to Russia. This changed June 8, with publication of three processing plants and six cold storage facilities in the FSIS Export Library. It is important to note, however, that the Export Library only lists the following products:
“Only prepared pork products and baby food containing beef imported from Australia and/or New Zealand and fully cooked, canned baby food containing lamb are eligible to export to Russia.”
While this FSIS Export Library posting affects only a small number of facilities and a very limited scope of products, it is hopefully the first step toward reentry of a wider range of processed and prepared U.S. meat products into Russia. USMEF will provide further information as it becomes available. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact Courtney Heller of USMEF Export Services at cheller@usmef.org or 303-623-6328.
