FAS Arranges One-On-One Meetings With
Key Buyers In Atlanta

Forty key decision makers and buyers from Argentina, Brazil, the Caribbean Basin, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Venezuela will be in Atlanta, Georgia on June 27 to meet U.S. companies interested in supplying the Hotel & Restaurant Food Industry.

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is hosting the meeting in association with the Georgia Department of Agriculture and SUSTA.

The HRI sector in Latin America and the Caribbean Basin is a growing market for U.S. high value food exports — The U.S. exported $4.5bil of consumer oriented products to the region in 2001 and 21,588 metric tons (mt) of beef (including variety meats) and 23,073 mt (including variety meats) of pork.

On average, 75% of imported HRI products to the Caribbean comes from the U.S.

Ecuador and Peru are experiencing a growing preference for American fast foods, while Brazilians eat one out of five meals away from home
