Exporters Advised To Pay Strict Attention To Labeling

USMEF advises its members shipping to Mexico that the Mexican government is more strictly enforcing its labeling regulation. Exporters should take particular care not to:

  • Send frozen product with a “keep refrigerated” label;
  • Use conflicting labels that say “keep refrigerated” and “keep frozen;” and
  • Make errors on dates such as having a packing date before slaughter date

A range of dates is still acceptable for use on export documents as long as the specific date on the box labels falls within the range of dates on the export certificate.

Agreement Will Allow Argentina To Resume Beef Exports

Argentina is set to resume its exports of beef after the government reached an agreement with producers that will allow them to export 550,000 metric tons (the last agreement was 480,000 metric tons). The agreement secures 13 popular cuts for domestic consumers at prices set in January, and the export limit doesn’t apply to beef from cows for processors.
