Why can't U.S. beef compete in the European Union (EU)? USMEF members know the main answer to this question is the EU insistence on maintaining a ban on beef produced with the aid of growth promotants despite a lack of scientific justification and the U.S. victory at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Even for producers of "hormone-free" beef, however, the path to exporting to the EU is a thorny one. A new paper by Roxanne Clemens and Bruce A.
