EU Will Allow Vertebral Column From Animals Up To 30 Months
The European Commission is proposing to increase the age requirement for removal of the vertebral column from cattle from 24 to 30 months, USMEF-Europe has learned.
This means that meat may be traded with the vertebral column, excluding the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia, from cattle up to 30 months of age. A proposal modifying the appropriate regulation was given a green light by the European Council. It is expected to be published in the EU Official Journal around the end of April and to come into force 20 days after that.
