No FMD Or Swine Fever In Denmark
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration announced that its preliminary investigation into a hog displaying symptoms of classical swine fever proved negative. The animal in question was dead on arrival at a slaughterhouse in Denmark’s Southern Jutland on September 24, and apparently gave rise to false reports in Japan that foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) had broken out in Denmark.
According to the Danish Bacon and Meat Council, other animals are being tested for classical swine fever, but there is no question of FMD.
