Current Pork Export Certificate Still Valid

Current Pork Export Certificate Still Valid

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Moscow notified USMEF that the current pork certificate for frozen pork meat and pork byproduct exports to Russia remains in force until a new veterinary certificate is agreed between the USDA and Russian authorities or until Russia unilaterally enforces such a certificate.

The market is considered open by both USDA and the Russian authorities, but USMEF recommends caution for those exporting pork to Russia, since no effective date for a new certificate has been set. A series of discussions has been scheduled for USDA and Russia for this fall, and USMEF will update members as the discussions progress.

USMEF has invited Russian officials to the U.S. for an orientation tour of the U.S. red meat industry. The tour may begin as early as September 21.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (www.USMEF.org) is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, corn and soybean checkoff programs.

USMEF complies with all equal opportunity, non-discrimination and affirmative action measures applicable to it by contract, government rule or regulation or as otherwise provided by law.
