Hong Kong Will Allow Longer Leeway For Old Export Certificate

Hong Kong’s Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has verbally agreed to allow entry to U.S. beef shipments with the existing FSIS export certificates for 60 days or until the FSIS has its new export certificate ready for use. USMEF-Hong Kong is seeking further details, but it appears for the time being that shipments to Hong Kong can use the current certificate provided the remarks section of the export certificate contains:

“(1) Establishment number, name and address of slaughter plant and slaughter dates in month/day/year format. Date ranges are acceptable.

“(2) Establishment number, name and address of processing/boning plant and processing dates in month/day/year format. Date ranges are acceptable.

“If this information is not provided in the Remarks section, the product will be denied entry.”
