Restaurants Targeted For U.S. Pork Promotions
Eight restaurant chains in South China joined with USMEF to promote U.S. pork during the past two months. The restaurants featured a variety of U.S. pork products, and thousands of tons of U.S. pork were enjoyed as a result.
Products featured by the restaurants included U.S. pork riblet, boneless butt, bone-in loin, jowl meat, CT butt and brisket bone. Restaurants in the promotion included Broadway Restaurant (Jianmen), Sun Island Steak House (Huizhou), Green Island (Shunde), Boton Restaurant (Dongguan), Made in Kitchen Restaurant (Shenzhen), Atlantic Restaurant, Danube Restaurant (Shunde) and Tracy & Flora.
Meanwhile, USMEF conducted a chef seminar Dec. 6 at Harbin’s Yansha Restaurant in North China to inform chefs about the use and safety of U.S. meat. A reception and dinner for key restaurant owners was also held Dec. 27 at the Shenyang Inter-Continental Hotel, with the top 10 users of U.S. pork receiving a certificate and chef knives.
Through November 2006, the United States exported 57,608 metric tons of U.S. pork and pork variety meat to China, worth about $76.4 million.
