China

New Requirement Requires Electronic Notification Of Meat Shipments

A new Chinese requirement for electronic notification of all meat and poultry shipments entering China is due to be posted in the FSIS Export Library shortly. The requirement must be in place for any shipment with a health certificate, FSIS Form 9060-5, signed January 1, 2007 and after.  The e-notification must be made before the product is inspected in China; in other words, before it arrives. The information in the e-mail is "Date of Issue of Health Certificate" and "Health Certificate number."

FSIS is seeking an extension and waiting for clarification of this requirement.  As soon as the information is received, FSIS will update the People's Republic of China requirements in the Export Library, which will include the e-mail addresses for AQSIQ and FSIS where the certificate information should be sent.    USMEF will send notification when the FSIS Export Library has been updated.
