Charles McVean to Speak at USMEF Conference

Charles D. McVean, chairman and CEO of McVean Trading and Investments of Memphis, Tenn., will give the keynote address at next week’s USMEF Board of Directors Strategic Planning Conference at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Ariz.

McVean heads a company that is universally recognized as a leading authority on the international meat trade and on the U.S. cattle and hog industries. McVean Trading and Investments conducts extensive studies in the fields of livestock and meat, grains and oilseeds and global macroeconomics.

McVean is expected to discuss the impact of the current financial crisis on the U.S. beef and pork industries, its effect on farm programs and what government agricultural cuts are likely.   He also will offer insights on how the agricultural industry can weather this difficult time and how exports remain the leading avenue for future prosperity. 

McVean is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt  Universityand a 2007 recipient of the Memphis City Council Humanitarian of the Year award for his efforts to improve public education.
