Certificates For EU Must Be Dated Prior To Shipping Date

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) informed USMEF that there has recently been increased scrutiny at various EU ports to ensure that certificates are dated prior to the shipping date noted on shipping documents.

Consignments of commodities certified by APHIS should not be shipped to the EU without first ensuring that the required certificate is endorsed.

APHIS cannot post-date or pre-date certificates and is not in a position to assist exporters in getting shipments released when the exporter has not met the EU requirement to get the certificate endorsed prior to shipment.

Special mechanisms are in place to assist exporters who do not have the required shipment identification information at the time of certificate submission. Exporters should discuss those mechanisms with the individual offices endorsing the certificates in question.
