Updated Documentation Requirement For Meat From Bovinae Animals

For all meat and meat products from animals of the sub-family Bovinae (cattle, buffalo, bison), including veal and bovine casings, slaughtered in the United States, an updated statement must be provided in the Remarks section of FSIS Form 9135-3 or on an FSIS letterhead certificate, effective June 14. The updated statement includes specific definition of risk materials removed under a verification program.

To view the updated statement, see Item 9 in the Documentation section of the Export Requirements for Canada in the FSIS Export Library.

The previous statement will be accepted for 60 days, except for shipments of small intestine, which must use the revised statement certification. Effective August 14, the revised certification must be used for all shipments.

Note: bison and buffalo products must be produced under an approved AMS export verification program to be eligible for export to Canada.
