Bulgaria

Meat From Non EU-approved Plants Ineligible Starting Jan. 1

Starting Jan. 1, 2007, products and raw materials from animal origin cannot enter Bulgaria unless they are from a plant approved by the European Union (EU). If product from a non-EU approved plant has not cleared customs by Jan. 1, it will not be allowed into Bulgaria.

Until Jan. 1, products and raw materials of animal origin imported into Bulgaria must be accompanied by a certificate approved by the chief veterinary officer or, if such a certificate is not available, a certificate from the exporting country. U.S. exporters can use the FSIS 9060-5 certificate.
