BSE In Canada CFIA Announces Material From Affected Cow May Be In Dog Food The investigation into the processing of the remains of the one Canadian cow found to be suffering from Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has determined that meat and bonemeal potentially containing material from the infected cow was used in the production of dog food. The CFIA has issued a public information notice regarding the dog food and Health Canada is advising that there is no risk to human health from handling this product. Rendered material from the cow that tested positive last week may have been used in the production of some brands of dry dog food manufactured by Champion Pet Food Ltd., Morinville, Alberta. The CFIA emphasized none of this material has been used in the production of foods for human consumption. More information on BSE can be found at: http://www.bseinfo.org/
