U.S. Pork Highly Regarded By Food Industry
U.S. frozen and processed pork products were promoted to the Australian market Sept. 11-14 at Fine Food, the largest retail, foodservice or hospitality industry event in Australia. USMEF used a booth in the U.S. pavilion to showcase products like bacon and ham to more than 30,000 attendees, many of whom gave the U.S. products high marks.
“Visitors were impressed with the quality and taste of cooked U.S. processed pork items, such as bacon and ham,” said Eric Choon, USMEF ASEAN director. “Many were surprised how tasty the bacon was without being greasy and others were interested how spiral hams are produced while keeping the bone intact.”
Through July 2006, the United States exported 13,781 metric tons of pork and pork variety meat to Australia, worth more than $32.1 million.
