Beef Bowl Returns Yoshinoya To Profitability, But Not To Expected Levels
Yoshinoya D&C, Japan's largest beef-bowl chain, said that it will earn about 220 million yen (about $1.9 million USD) in the first half of fiscal 2007, compared to a loss of 467 million yen a year ago. However, the company had expected to earn about 400 million yen.

A national study of Japanese consumers by Tokyo-based Macromill for the U.S. Meat Export Federation showed that 52 percent agree with the government's decision to resume imports of U.S. beef, and roughly the same number were either positive or neutral about ordering that beef in restaurants or grocery stores.
