EU veterinary experts have voted to extend the scope of restrictions on beef coming from parts of Argentina, after the country's authorities widened the risk area to prevent a further spread of the contagious livestock virus Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). Due to uncertainties in the information supplied by the Argentineans, the ban on imports of de-boned and maturated meat has been widened to the whole of the provinces of Formosa, Salta, Chaco and Jujuy, according to a European Commission Decision adopted on October 10.
