Japan: Too Early to Lift U.S. Beef Ban
TOKYO - Japan said Monday that it is too soon to discuss lifting its ban on American beef, saying that officials should first establish the facts surrounding the discovery of a case of mad cow disease in the United States.

He said that he had received information around midnight Friday night that "would suggest the positive animal entered the U.S. as part of a group of 74 dairy animals that entered the U.S. at East Port, Idaho, originating from a dairy herd in Alberta, Canada in 2001."
