Japan mulls extending snapback
A Japanese government panel has recommended a one- year extension of the emergency tariffs placed on foreign beef and pork to protect Japanese farmers from a surge in imports.

U.S. officials are saying today that China has now said it will soon be granting permanent approval for the importation of U.S. GMO soybeans. Currently, such shipments from the U.S. to China are covered via a temporary permit system which has twice been extended by the Chinese so as to not disrupt trade. The latest extension left the temporary system in place until April 20, 2004.
