Pushing developing nations into liberalizing their markets and exporting a narrow range of products leads to trade volatility, lower economic growth and increased poverty, according to a survey by charity World Vision.
New agreement for beef exports to Korea
The USDA has reached a new agreement with South Korea, one of the United States' top customers for beef exports. Korea had requested country-of-origin certification for U.S. beef exports following the Canadian BSE incident. This agreement will allow export certifications, beginning Oct.1, to read: "The meat was derived from animals born and raised in the United States or from animals which were resident in the United States for at least three months. The meat was derived from animals which were slaughtered in the United States."
