Beef imports to Japan expected to increase in 2004
Japan's beef imports are expected to rise nine percent to 870,000 metric tons with the United Statesaccounting for 47 percent of those imports, according to a recent report released by the Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service.
Beef Imports Plummet
Japanese imports of beef plunged in August, with only 39,056 metric tons imported, a decrease of 38 percent compared with the July 2003 import volume and a decrease of 26 percent compared with August 2002 imports, according to Meat and Livestock Australia. Australia is one of the largest exporters of beef to Australia.
