U.S. beef to Japan, starting over?
The United States will conduct a thorough investigation to assure Japan that American beef is safe, and must avoid more mistakes like the one that prompted Tokyo to suspend beef imports last week, Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said on Tuesday.

Japan ban about more than beef
Most U.S. officials were apologetic to the Japanese about the shipment of U.S. veal containing backbone in violation of a beef-trade agreement, but House Agriculture Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said during the weekend he thought the situation was just politics, according to a report in the Daily News Record, a Virginia newspaper.
